Briefing
Lately, the hacker group in our school has been acting sort of weirdly, or should I say “dotty?” We found this weird string lying around in one of the computers they’ve hacked. Can you try to decode it to find if there’s some sort of password inside that they’ve stolen?
When you first take a look at this string, it looks kind of suspicious. I mean, what are all those dots for?
4f7572.......206..........e65787......4.2....074617267657.4...206172.6....520746865206d6f647.........3e2.8.0a6........205061737...3.776f726420746f2074.....6865207379737...........4656d206973...2.0.315.....f416d5f6...15.......f.6241.4......4.5f683478...3072
The key to this challenge is looking at the overall theme of the string. (Remember cybersecurity is about noticing things that others fail to catch!)
If you consider the overall theme, you notice that it kind of looks like hex without the dots, and that's exactly what it is!
Find the dots and replace them with spaces
Decode from hex
Get the password

(This was the best GIF I could find with dots, and I apologize in advance)
